Thank you Winemaker extraordinaire, Sam Lambson, for affording us this opportunity.

We love Sam’s approach to making Syrah – it is genius – and with a good understanding of the Syrah we like along with expert analysis of various terroirs at his Niemandsrivier Vineyard, Sam has vinified and blended grapes to our taste and allowed us to bottle, label and now share these with you.

The label, designed by our daughter Cath, incorporates some of our great loves. Our love of exploring remote places, some of which grow these magnificent African Giants with so many stories to tell. Our passion for wild creatures and the joy that watching our feathered friends brings us.

And the fun and adventure that Brian has added to our family explorations.

MaCh1 is a nod to the Minimalist Wine rocket ship always aiming high, to our names and to the fun of being Barrel #1 … because we do also really love red wine!

The website, built by our son Rich, makes it a family affair and ensures that both he and Cath get to share some of the magic created by Sam.
